Digitization Project

In 2019, the Mattress Factory was awarded a Digitizing Hidden Collections grant from the Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR). The grant program was made possible by funding from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and in collaboration between the Mattress Factory and the Department of History of Art and Architecture and the School of Computing and Information at the University of Pittsburgh.

The resulting digital archive and finding aid, implemented using the open source collection management software CollectiveAccess, invites a sustained broader examination of Lankton’s multifaceted art practice. The project aims to preserve, historicize and contextualize Lankton’s artwork while shedding light on her working practices.
