Description
Robin Stanaway here moves from being a glass artist to an artist exploring the effects achieved by glass lenses in this case some hundreds of spectacles donated for the purposes of this exhibition. Light passes through them to some effect, but looking through the arranged ranks of lenses also alters the viewers’ perceptions. Such discarded spectacles also evoke imprinted memories of past owners.
About the Artist
Robin Stanaway received her MFA in Glass Sculpture from The Ohio State University and a BFA in Photography, Film and Intermedia from Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Her installations in glass, light, space (and sometimes sound) have been exhibited at the P.S.1 Museum and Contemporary Art Center, New York City; the NIME Conference in Paris, France; Steim in Amsterdam; Philadelphia Museum of Art; Steuben Gallery, New York; Tucson Museum of Art and Queens Museum of Art.
